Emergency Fund
While living in India, we came to meet individuals and families who were desperate or in extreme need situations. Funds were then raised in response to immediate needs such as medical emergencies, medicines, school, rent & basic survival needs.
Currently, we are focusing our efforts on helping to raise funds for an orphanage for children living with HIV. Located in Kirtipur, Nepal, Baby Life Home is currently looking to raise funds to provide food, housing, medicines, clothes & an education for their twenty one children. In the wake of the recent earthquakes, their main house collapsed, so they have had to move into the school house. The next few months will be crucial in raising support for them to prepare for the winter.

Tibetan Families and Individuals in Need:
When we lived and worked in India, we would raised funds for Tibetans and families as we came across individuals with urgent needs. Here are a few stories of individuals in need.
Ama-lak Lobsang Deckyi Khanning and her daughters: Ama-lak was suffering from medical problems and suddenly found herself unable to work. We found sponsors to help pay for diagnostic medical testing and for medicines. As well, one of her daughters suffered from a chronic ulcer. We raised funds for her endoscopy and needed medicines. Ama-lak is an ex-political prisoner and was the daughter of a noble family from the Lhasa area. We also helped her publish a short book about her life.
Ama-lak Tsechyi and her family: When we met Ama-la she was a GREEN Worker, collecting recyclables for a new environmental health program started by the Tibetan Welfare Office. She was supporting five children on a meager salary. At first, we would buy the Tibetan Freedom bracelets she & her daughter made. After getting to know the family better, we came to find that her oldest daughter, Sonam Dolkar, suffered from Rheumatic heart disease. In 1997, she needed medical testing at the Heart Clinic in Chandigarh, India. We raised money so she could afford the testing and Tibetan medicine for her condition.
In 2003, when she finally needed triple valve replacement heart surgery, we collaborated with the Department of Health (CTA) and the Dharamshala Earthville Institute to raise the needed funds and find the best medical services available. We are happy to report that she has been steadily recovering since then.
Sonam Dolma, lives in the Tibetan settlement of Mundgod, South India. She suffers from a neurological disease which is treatable with medicines, which her family could not afford. We pursued help from the Health Department, and also contributed towards her medical bills.
